Armenian president in Astana with official visit September.
    The presidents held talks behind closed doors and afterwards Armenian delegation held talks with the Kazakh officials. At the joint press conference held by the Kazakh and Armenian presidents, both Nursultan Nazarbayev and Robert Kocharian said that they were not, "satisfied with the mutual economic and trade cooperation between Yerevan and Astana". They mention that Kazakhstan "had a lot to export to Armenia, and also a lot to import from that Caucasian country". President Nazarbayev said mainly wheat and raw materials might be imported to Armenia from Kazakhstan, meanwhile Armenia could sell its food outputs and machinery to Kazakhstan.
    Kazakh and Armenian top officials signed several documents on mutual economic, political, humanitarian, scientific and educational cooperation. Armenian President Robert Kocharian offered Kazakhstan to open its Embassy in Yerevan. It was decided to create joint Kazakh-Armenian Commission in order to research opportunities for the further economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
