BIOGRAPHY
Aram Hovhannisyan
was born 1984 August 15, in Yerevan.
From 1989 till 1996 studied violin.

In 1991 he entered A. Ter-Ghevondian Music School, studying flute (with Grigory Hovhannisyan) and composition (with David Poghossyan), and graduated from it in 1998. In 1999 he entered the Wind Instruments department of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, studying flute with Honored Art Worker of Armenia Yevgeni Noninyan. From 2000, he studies simultaneously at the Composition department of the same Conservatory, with Levon Chaoshyan.

From 2000, Mr. Hovhannisyan performs mostly contemporary music, including compositions by O.Messiaen, E.Denissov, F.Donatoni, I.Stefanovich, A.Avanessov, etc. Some works of Armenian and Georgian composers are written especially for him.

From 2001, he teaches flute in A. Ter-Ghevondian Music School.

In 2001, he played flute in ethno-jazz ensemble "INTO".
His compositions are based mostly on the intonations of Eastern music combined with elements of Impressionism. Mr. Hovhannisyan is the author of many chamber works, among them "Uneasiness" (string quartet, 2000), "Litania" (voice and ensemble, 2001), "Trio- Elegy" (flute, cello and piano, 2001), "Schwanken-Entscheidung-Abkehr" (clarinet, double bass, piano and percussion, 2002), "Je voudrais de me souvenir" (clarinet, cello and piano, 2002).
