The main body of Association was formed when a group of scientists was carrying out the scintific research work "Tranformation of the Human Development Index into the Sustainable Human Development Index" (by means of including the ecological component) and preparing the brochure "Ecological Problems of Armenia from the Viewpoint of Sustainable Development Concept". Both works were accomplished in 1995 with the sponsorship and backing of UNDP in Armenia.

   Our Association was founded on January 30, 1996 and registered by the Ministry of Justice on April 22, 1996. According to the new law of RA on NGOs the Association was reregistered on December 20, 2000; registration number is 1804.
